Capel Makes Staff Official: New Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel officially has his first staff in Norman. Capel announced the hirings of Rod Barnes and Ben Betts, adding those two to Mark Cline and Bryan Goodman. The first three will serve as assistants, and Goodman will be director of basketball operations. All of Capel’s staff has solid experience. Barnes was Mississippi’s coach for eight seasons through this March, compiling a 141-109 record and leading the Rebels to three NCAA Tournaments. Betts was 51-39 in three seasons at South Carolina State. Goodman joins Capel after working as an assistant at Bucknell. And Cline worked with Capel at Virginia Commonwealth, where Capel previously coached before moving to Oklahoma. [5/31/06]
