Larranaga Named Virginia Coach of the Year: In addition to receiving a nomina-tion for ESPN’s Coach of the Year ESPY Award and being inducted into the New Eng-land Basketball Hall of Fame, George Mason coach Jim Larranaga has picked up yet another award: Virginia Coach of the Year. Larranaga led the Patriots to a Final Four run in the NCAA Tournament, including wins against Michigan State, North Carolina and Connecticut. The Virginia Coach of the Year award is chosen by the Virginia Sports In-formation Directions. Larranaga also won the award in 1999. George Mason forward Jai Lewis was also named 1st Team All-State and guard Lamar Butler was named 2nd Team All-State. [6/27/06]
