Ole Miss: Dominating Rebel Rebounder Dies

Dominating Rebel Rebounder Dies: Mississippi great Denver Bracken passed away at the age of 75. Bracken transferred to the Rebels in 1953 after becoming the 1953 National Junior College Most Valuable Player. Bracken averaged 24.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game for his career — third and first, respectively, on Ole Miss’ all-time list. After his unanimous All-America selection in 1955, he was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by New York, where he played for three seasons. Bracken would later serve 21 years as the dean of students’ administrative work at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. He served on the State Board for Community Junior Colleges until his death.
