Valparaiso: Valpo Player Suspended



Valpo Player Suspended: A Valparaiso player who was charged with misdemeanor theft has been suspended from the team. Jimmie Miles, projected to be the Crusaders’ starting point guard next season, turned himself into police. He is accused of picking up and delivering packages of fraudulently obtained cellular phones. Police called him a minor player in a fraud ring. If convicted, Miles faces a maximum penalty of one year in jail. Miles played in 19 of Valpo’s 29 games last season, starting 11. He averaged 4.9 points and 1.6 assists per game. The 2006-07 season will be the last for Valparaiso in the Mid-Continent Conference because they will be switching to the Horizon League starting in 2007. [7/16/06]
