Kansas: Kansas Makes Its Case

Kansas Makes Its Case: Kansas officials, including coach Bill Self, met with NCAA representatives to explain the rules infractions that occurred at the school from 1997 to 2003. An internal investigation found that the Jayhawks’ football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball teams had committed violations. The NCAA conducted its own investigation and added the potentially serious charges of lack of institutional control and academic fraud. Kansas punished the football and women’s basketball programs by limiting scholarships and putting the teams on probation. The basketball team has not faced any penalties yet. The NCAA infractions committee should reach a decision in five to seven weeks. [8/16/06]
