Iowa Players Arrested, Charged With Theft: Two Hawkeye players, senior Mike Henderson and freshman Tyler Smith, were arrested Sept. 24 and charged with theft, Coralville, Iowa, police said. The two players are accused of stealing from a Dillard’s department store in Coral Ridge Mall, but no word on the circumstances surrounding the arrests was available. Although university officials refused to comment on the issue, the players issued a joint statement. “We feel terrible that we made such a stupid mistake,” it states. “We let down our family, our friends, our coaches and all our supporters. There is no excuse for our actions and we take full responsibility.” [9/28/06]
