Illinois: Illini’s McBride Suspended Indefinitely After DUI

Illini’s McBride Suspended Indefinitely After DUI: In a hit to Illinois coach Bruce Weber’s Fighting Illini, senior guard Rich McBride was suspended indefinitely after being charged with driving under the influence. McBride, 21, was arrested and charged Sept. 29 with a DUI and improper traffic lane usage in Savoy, Ill., a town just south of Champaign. McBride’s absence will hurt the Illini, who lost starting point guard Dee Brown to the NBA after last season. The 6-3 McBride started all 33 games for Illinois last season, averaging 10 points a contest.

Weber received more bad news last week when Indianapolis prep standout Eric Gordon decommitted from Illinois and announced he would attend Indiana instead.
