Larranaga to Become a New England Basketball Hall of Famer: Jim Larranaga, who earlier this year led George Mason on a magical ride to the Final Four, was in-ducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame Oct. 6. Larranaga led the Patriots to a 27-8 record, an upset of Connecticut and an all-time CAA-high rank of No. 8 in the coaches’ poll. Larranaga qualifies for induction because he played at Providence, where he led the Friars in scoring in his sophomore and junior seasons. [10/06/06]
