Washington’s Hawes Undergoes Surgery: Washington freshman Spencer Hawes underwent arthroscopic surgery Oct. 10 to remove loose particles in his right knee, coach Lorenzo Romar said. The 7-foot center was projected to only miss two to four weeks after the operation. Hawes was a 2006 McDonald’s All-American at Seattle Prep High School and the State Player of the Year. He also played on the gold-medal winning FIBA America’s Under-18 Championships last summer, which Romar coached. [10/11/06]
