Terps Extend Williams’ Contract: Any talk of Maryland coach Gary Williams needing to win big this season to avoid the hot seat sounds like nonsense now. Maryland has extended Williams’ contract through 2010-11 with incentives that could push it through 2014. The university said it is happy with Williams’ work, especially in improving the school’s academic profile for players. Although the Terrapins have not been to the NCAA Tournament for a couple of seasons, Williams continues to attract plenty of talent to College Park. The 18-year Terps coach has a 355-191 record at his alma mater. [11/10/06]
