Knight Tied at 879 Wins: Texas Tech coach Bob Knight tied Dean Smith’s record of 879 Division I men’s basketball victories by beating Bucknell Saturday night. In his 41 seasons as a coach, Knight is known for his violent temper and aggressive style of coaching. This season, Knight has tried to keep the focus on his team and players instead of the wins, and he also insists that his winning record is a reflection of his past teams and not himself. “I hope those kids that played at Army back in ’65, I hope some of them watched the game today and can look at themselves or their grandchildren and can say, `I was there when that son of a bitch started.”‘ [12/24/06]
