Not To-Knight: Texas Tech coach Bob Knight missed his first opportunity to pass Dean Smith on the all-time coaching victory list after UNLV tamed the Red Raiders 74-66. Knight has 879 wins in his career of 40-plus years, which spans tenures at Army, Indiana and Texas Tech. Knight has refused to join the media spectacle about his imminent, record-breaking accomplishment, and he has found some amusement in the constant coverage during the past month. He will get a second opportunity to surpass Smith Monday when the Red Raiders play New Mexico. [12/29/06]
