South Carolina: Gamecocks’ Kelley to Play Despite Arrest

Gamecocks’ Kelley to Play Despite Arrest: South Carolina senior point guard Tre Kelley apologized to teammates for his highway arrest, and coach Dave Odom decided to give him a vote of confidence by starting him at Georgia tonight. Kelley, the Gamecocks’ leading scorer at 16.3 points per game, was arrested and taken to Lexington County jail for driving 25 mph over the speed limit on Interstate 20. Later investigations found Kelley’s license had been suspended because of unpaid traffic tickets. He was booked and spent 10 hours at the establishment before being released. The Gamecocks are coming off a blowout loss to Kansas. [1/10/07]
