Texas Tech’s Rizvic Has Surgery to Repair Broken Facial Bones: Texas Tech center Esmir Rizvic is recovering from having surgery Monday night to repair broken bones in his face after taking an elbow from Oklahoma’s Longar Longar. Red Raiders coach Bob Knight feels that Longar shouldn’t be allowed to play if he plans to use such brutal behavior. On the other side, Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel points out that Longar has no history of flagrant or technical fouls, citing this incident as isolated and out of character. Although Knight has sent the game tape to the Big 12 to review, Capel has no plans of sitting Longar in the Sooners’ upcoming game against Colorado. [1/10/07]
