Eagles’ Shot Blocker Swatted From Team: Boston College has dismissed shot-blocker extraordinaire Sean Williams and teammate Akida McLain. Coach Al Skinner refused to offer details about their dismissal, but he said the dismissals came after the players violated a team rule. Williams averages 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and five blocks per game — the latter statistic is good for third in Division I. McLain averages two points and 1.5 rebounds per game for the Eagles. Both players received suspensions earlier in the season, so Skinner has demonstrated consistent disciplinary force when his players act unruly. (Analysis) [1/17/07]
