Notre Dame: Irish Guard Avoids Trial

Irish Guard Avoids Trial: Notre Dame point guard Kyle McAlarney has entered a pretrial diversion program that would clear him of marijuana-possession charges pressed on him last month after police found the substance in his car. McAlarney, 19, would have to pass random drug tests, undergo a substance abuse evaluation, perform community service and stay out of trouble overall for a year for the agreement to stand. McAlarney, with coach Mike Brey’s support, has continued to practice with the Irish and intends to stay at Notre Dame. [1/18/07]
