Gamecocks’ Reserve Center Departs Again: South Carolina backup center Ousmane Konate has left the team for a second time this month, and coach Dave Odom doubts the 6-10 junior will play again. Konate, who took a leave of absence earlier this month, needed to take care of some personal issues, Odom said. His departure will make the Gamecocks dangerously small, with only one regular player, 6-9 Brandon Wallace, taller than 6-7. Konate, a junior from Senegal, had played in 11 games this season and averaged just less than eight minutes per game. [2/01/07]
