Southern Conference Tournament Semifinals: No. 1 Davidson moved into the Southern Conference Tournament championship game after handling No. 5 Furman 91-68. The Wildcats set a pair of records against the Paladins. Freshman guard Stephen Curry hit six three-pointers to increase his season total to 113, a new NCAA record. Meanwhile, the school’s 28th win this season broke a Davidson record formerly held by Lefty Driesell’s 1969 squad.
Davidson will play No. 3 College of Charleston, the Southern Conference Tournament’s host. The Cougars won a thriller against No. 2 Appalachian State, forcing the Mountaineers to hope and pray for an at-large bid after finishing 25-7. College of Charleston pulled off the 89-87 upset in overtime thanks to Dontaye Draper’s career-high 38 points.
