Giacoletti Resigns at Utah: Utah coach Ray Giacoletti has decided to leave the school after three seasons. He compiled a 54-38 record that included a trip to the Sweet 16 and a No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick in Andrew Bogut, who went to Milwaukee in 2005. Despite his early success, Utah has struggled this season with an 11-17 record as Giacoletti rebuilds the team.
Giacoletti’s decision to leave the school has surprised some of his coaching peers, who told ESPN.com that they thought Utah might have pressured Giacoletti to leave. The coach signed a confidentiality agreement, and the athletic director said Giacoletti made the decision on his own. Despite the athletic director’s words, the situation smells fishy. [3/02/07]
