Six Coaches Join Operation Hardwood: Georgia coach Dennis Felton was selected among six NCAA Division I coaches to take part in Operation Hardwood, a six-day visit to U.S. military bases in the Persian Gulf area by professional athletes. Operation Hardwood, an event sponsored by the USO and Armed Forces Entertainment, will tip off in Kuwait May 22. Felton and his fellow coaches – which include Vermont’s Mike Lonergan, Notre Dame’s Mike Brey and Wake Forest’s Skip Prosser — will lead service members and sports personalities during the tournament. Last year, for Thanksgiving, the event brought professional golfers to troops in Kuwait and Iraq. [5/4/07]
