Thomspon Saga Ends at Ball State: Ball State coach Ronny Thompson has resigned after one season leading the Cardinals. Thompson, son of legendary coach John Thompson and brother of Georgetown coach John Thompson III, led Ball State to a 9-22 record in his only season at the helm. He also led the program to two NCAA violations in barely a year. The controversy turned ugly last month when Thompson and his staff received letters containing insulting, racially charged language. Police are investigating the case to determine the source of those letters. [7/13/07]
