Washington State: Cougars Reward Bennett for Success

Cougars Reward Bennett for Success: Washington State will more than double coach Tony Bennett’s salary after the first-year head coach led the Cougars to their most successful season in a long time. Washington State finished 26-8 and earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Bennett made $350,000 last season as the Cougars’ coach, far below the Pac-10 average. He will make $800,000 a year under the new seven-year deal. The extension brings stability to the program, giving Bennett a chance to build on the team’s success in his first year. [7/29/07]
