Fields Is in Pure Trouble: Pittsburgh junior guard Levance Fields was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, disarming a police officer, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident at a Pittsburgh nightclub. The 20-year-old was kicked out of the Pure nightclub but continued to launch a profanity-laden rant outside the club. An off-duty police officer approached Fields, who struck the officer and reached for the officer’s weapon before another officer struck Fields with a Taser. Coach Jamie Dixon said he is awaiting the results of the judicial process before acting, but the school has a high standard for personal conduct. Fields, who averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 assists per game last season, is likely to face at least a short-term suspension. [9/18/07]
