Ohio State: Buckeyes Give Matta a Raise

Buckeyes Give Matta a Raise: Ohio State’s Board of Trustees has approved a raise and extension for coach Thad Matta, who led the Buckeyes to the national championship game last season. Extended through 2016, Matta will earn about $2.5 million a year, nearly equal to football coach Jim Tressel. In three seasons at Ohio State, Matta has an 81-22 record and has recruited some of the most talented players in the country. Center Greg Oden went No. 1 in the NBA Draft, and fellow Buckeye Mike Conley went No. 4. [9/23/07]
