Georgia: Felton Banishes Three to the Doghouse

Felton Banishes Three to the Doghouse: Georgia coach Dennis Felton has suspended three players for at least six games because they violated school policies. Felton did not provide details about the violations committed by senior Takais Brown, junior Mike Mercer and sophomore Albert Jackson. Mercer led the Bulldogs in scoring last season, averaging 14.2 points per game, and Brown was second on the team with 13.6 points per game. Mercer will miss the most time with a 15-game suspension. However, Mercer is coming off a serious knee injury last season, and Felton will not allow him to begin serving his suspension until he is medically clear to play.

Meanwhile, Brown will miss the first nine games of the season. He led Georgia in shooting, making 56.6 percent of his attempts. Jackson will serve the shortest suspension: six games. He played in most of the Bulldogs’ games last season and averaged 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. [10/12/07]
