Ball State: Ball State Pays Thompson to Forget Controversy

Ball State Pays Thompson to Forget Controversy: Ball State and Ronny Thompson have agreed on a settlement that will pay the Cardinals’ former coach $200,000. In addition, Thompson will waive all claims against the university and will not publicly comment on the deal or disparage the university. Thompson resigned in July 2007 after complaining about harassment from university officials. The case became heated when Thompson accused the university of racial harassment and retaliation. As part of the deal, Thompson will not address those concerns any more. Son of former Georgetown coach John Thompson, Ronny Thompson coached the Cardinals for one season and encountered potential NCAA violations for attending offseason workouts. [1/24/08]
