Hunter Goes Shoeless to Raise Awareness: IUPUI coach Ron Hunter paced the Jaguars’ sidelines without shoes during IUPUI’s 82-69 win against Oakland Thursday to raise awareness for needy African children. Working with Samaritan’s Feet, a Charlotte-based charity, Hunter is collecting 40,000 pairs of shoes to send to children in Africa. Hunter witnessed African poverty when he traveled to Nigeria for a recruiting trip in 2004. As of now, he has more than 30,000 pairs of shoes and hopes to complete the shoe drive by this summer.
