Almost Winning Pays Off: John Calipari agreed in principle with Memphis to a contract extension that will pay him about $2.5 million a year. The school maintains that the details have not been finalized but that most of the deal is complete. In 2006 and the 2006-07 season, Calipari spoke with North Carolina State and Arkansas respectively, about openings. In each case, he opted to stay with Memphis.
