New Jersey IT: Highlanders Match Record for Futility

Highlanders Match Record for Futility: New Jersey Institute of Technology lost its season opener 56-32 to Manhattan, stretching the Highlanders’ losing streak to 34 games. The team failed to win a single game last season. The loss matches Sacramento State’s record set in 1997-1999. New Jersey IT coach Jim Engles said the record will not be an official Division I record because the program is in its final year of reclassifying as a Division I school. [11/15/08]
