North Carolina: Tar Heels’ Zeller Injures Wrist

Tar Heels’ Zeller Injures Wrist: North Carolina freshman center Tyler Zeller injured his left wrist in the waning moments of North Carolina’s 77-58 win against Kentucky Nov. 18. Ramon Harris fouled Zeller while he was attempting a layup, and the 7-footer crashed to ground, extending his left arm and wrist to try to break his fall. An ESPN reporter near the locker room reported that as Zeller left the game with a minute to play, his wrist appeared swollen. Coach Roy Williams said after the game that the injury does not look good. Zeller eventually went to a hosital for X-rays.

Update: Zeller’s Season Likely Done: North Carolina received the news today that Zeller has a fractured wrist. He underwent surgery today to fix the wrist, and he likely will miss the remainder of the season while recovering. Zeller joins Tyler Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard on the injured list. [11/19/08]
