New VCU head coach Shaka Smart has hired Mike Rhoades to join his staff as an assistant coach. Rhoades was 197-76 in 10 seasons as head coach at Randolph-Macon a Division III school in Virginia. Rhoades led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances.
