Davidson: Curry Decides to Go to NBA

Davidson junior guard Stephen Curry ended a nearly month-long debate about his future by declaring for the NBA Draft. Considered to be a probable lottery pick in the draft in June, Curry seriously considered returning for his senior season despite leading the nation in scoring this past season. He said in a press release that he looks forward to taking his game to the next level.

“My goal since I can remember has always been to play in the NBA, and that goal has now become a viable opportunity for me,” Curry said. “After weighing my options, I came to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to take hold of that opportunity now.”

Curry led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points an outing and led the Southern Conference in assists (5.6/gm) and steals (2.5/gm) in 2008-09. He became Davidson’s and the Southern Conference’s career scoring leader and ranks 25th on the NCAA Division I career scoring chart (2,635 points) and fourth in 3-pointers (414).
