Tennessee: Vols Goose Pearl’s Salary With Restructured Contract

According to an AP report, Tennessee has restructured the contract of coach Bruce Pearl to boost his salary earnings to $1.9 million next season, with subsequent annual increases until 2014-15, the final season of the new deal.

Pearl, entering his fifth season with the Vols, is also owed a $500,000 longevity bonus. He’ll be owed another one of those during the 2012-13 season. His salary will go up by $100,000 yearly. In all, the coach will make an average of $2.3 million during the next six seasons.

Tennessee has averaged 25 wins during the four seasons Pearl has been at the helm. The Vols have made the NCAA Tournament in every one of them.

“The University of Tennessee has so much to offer, from great academic programs to incredible athletic resources to the most passionate fans in the country,” Pearl said in a statement. “I look forward to being the men’s basketball coach at Tennessee for many more years.”
