Gillispie Enters Rehab to Treat ‘Alcohol Issues’

Former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie has checked into a rehab program in Houston, according to an Associated Press report.

Gillispie entered an alcohol-related program at the John Lucas Athletes After Care Program a few weeks after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Kentucky last month. He has a court date Sept. 23 related to that arrest.

According to the Associated Press, Gillispie said he is not proud of the arrest and will seek help.

Gillispie said he was taking responsibility “by going to spend some time with John Lucas in Houston. He’s got the John Lucas Athletes After Care Program. He’s going to deal with some alcohol issues for me. [I’m] not very proud of what happened in Kentucky two weeks ago. That’s inexcusable at this stage of my life. It should have never happened.”
