Purdue: Boilermakers Will Sit Jackson for Season Opener as Punishment

Purdue has suspended guard Lewis Jackson for two exhibition games and the season opener following his guilty plea to charges of illegal alcohol consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an Associated Press report.

The team and NCAA violations will prevent him from playing Nov. 13 against Cal State Northridge. Lewis pleaded guilty in April and faced a year of court supervision. He was also told to complete community service.

Jackson started 30 games as a freshman last season and averaged 3.3 assists.
