Hawaii will be without 7-foot center Douglas Kurtz for the first six games of the season after the Brazilian was suspended for playing three games in his native country’s professional league, according to an Associated Press report.
There were no appeals to the sanction. Hawaii opens its season Friday in the Rainbow Classic against Southern Utah. Kurtz will be back against Lamar on Dec. 6.
