College Basketball Tonight – March 19, 2017

Welcome to College Basketball Tonight! We are down to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, and if the first round didn’t have what you want, the second round surely did. The results of the two rounds could not be more different.

First, we look at Sunday’s action, where two No. 2 seeds went down a day after the first No. 1 seed went down. Along the way, we look at how Villanova’s loss followed from seeding issues the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee had. The Wildcats lost to a good Wisconsin team that underachieved a bit in the regular season in part from injuries, but there are plenty of arguments to be had that they were seeded lower than they should have been.

After that, we go back to more of Saturday’s action, where things picked up after a first round light on dramatic finishes or wins by lower seeds.

We look ahead to the second weekend, which features a rematch of two teams that played a great game earlier in the season. Not surprisingly, that game will be the last of the eight games to tip as well.

In addition, we touch on coaching news, including two noteworthy pieces from over the weekend: Brad Underwood’s stunning jump to Illinois after just one year at Oklahoma State, and Washington hiring long-time Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins and what it means for Syracuse.

Be sure to share this with your fellow fans, and join us again next week when we look at who is heading to the Final Four.
